LEAH LURYE, PsyD.
ABOUT ME
I have training in psychodynamic psychotherapy as well as cognitive-behavioral approaches such as Modular Approaches to Therapy for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, or Conduct (MATCH-ADTC) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In other words, I work from a developmental and integrative lens. I consider how one's early life, family, and culture, shape identity and the ways we relate to others, while integrating coping skills and techniques to help address emotional challenges in the present moment.
I see the individual as more than the symptoms they present with. I strive to understand the environment and systems that an individual is embedded in (family, school, work, faith) and how such contexts shape their ability to express and manage difficult emotions. I tailor each person's treatment to their specific needs by collaboratively setting goals and identifying existing strengths.
I am an LGBTQI+ affirming and inclusive therapist who works from a trauma-informed perspective. My approach is empathic and collaborative. I believe that resilience grows in the context of relationships, and that trust and a strong therapeutic relationship are the keys to enacting change.
